Trump dubs report of rescinding Justice Gorsuch's nomination 'fake news'

Washington D.C. [USA], Dec 19 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has accused a media house of publishing "fake news" after the news outlet run a report stating that the former had talked about rescinding the nomination of Justice Neil M. Gorsuch to the country's Supreme Court.

"A story in the @washingtonpost that I was close to "rescinding" the nomination of Justice Gorsuch prior to confirmation is FAKE NEWS. I never even wavered and am very proud of him and the job he is doing as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The unnamed sources don't exist!" Trump tweeted.

As per the Washington Post report, the US President talked with his advisers about rescinding the nomination, after Gorsuch was critical of the President's escalating attacks on the federal judiciary in private meetings with legislators.

This is not the first time Trump has targeted the media house. Earlier this month, he called for a sacking of its reporter who had tweeted a misleading picture of the president's Florida rally.

The US President has often expressed disapproval in the country's mainstream media, alleging that his coverage is done in a negative way.

In a tweet posted last week, Trump said, "Wow, more than 90% of Fake News Media coverage of me is negative, with numerous forced retractions of untrue stories. Hence my use of Social Media, the only way to get the truth out. Much of Mainstream Meadia has become a joke! @foxandfriends." (ANI)
