Texas shooter 'escaped mental health clinic in 2012'

Sutherland Springs (Texas) [United States], November 8 (ANI): Devin Kelley, the shooter who killed 26 people at a Texas church on Sunday, had escaped a mental health clinic in 2012, according to a police report.

The report obtained by local media stated that he had escaped from the Peak Behavioral Health Services in New Mexico and allegedly made threats against his U.S. Air Force commanders, the Independent reported.

He had been sent to the hospital after beating his ex-wife and her child in 2012 while stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, but was able to escape and flee the state to Texas in 2012.

El Paso officers, who detained Kelley five years ago, were told he was "a danger to himself and others".

According to the report, he was "attempting to carry out death threats" against "his military chain of command".

The person who reported him missing from the facility told police that Kelley "suffered from mental disorders".

El Paso police arrested Kelley at a bus terminal in downtown El Paso in June, 2012.

The report also revealed that Kelley worked as a logistics readiness specialist at Holloman Air Force Base from 2010 until his discharge in 2014, when he was convicted on domestic violence charges. (ANI)
