Stormy Daniels and US President Donald Trump

Washington DC [United States] Apr 28 (ANI): California judge James Otero has temporarily put a hold on porn star Stormy Daniels' lawsuit against United States President Donald Trump and his personal attorney Michael Cohen for 90 days.

Cohen asked to delay the case after FBI agents raided his home and office earlier this month and he argued that his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination may be jeopardized if the proceedings weren't delayed, reported CNN.

When the FBI raided Cohen's hotel room, home and office earlier this month, it seized records related to Daniels.

Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, said they plan to file an appeal.

"While we certainly respect Judge Otero's 90 day stay order based on Mr. Cohen's pleading of the 5th, we do not agree with it. We will likely be filing an immediate appeal to the Ninth Circuit early next week. Justice delayed is justice denied," Avenatti wrote on Twitter.

The hearing of the lawsuit has been scheduled on July 27.

Daniels has publicly claimed a 2006 sexual encounter with Trump. However, the US President had repeatedly denied any relations with the porn star.

She also claimed Cohen orchestrated a payment to keep her quiet during the election.

Daniels has been locked in a legal battle with President Trump earlier this month, seeking to invalidate a nondisclosure agreement she and Cohen had signed more than a decade ago.

Daniels, in her lawsuit, is asking whether the hush agreement was legal, and is looking at whether Trump consented to it, according to the report.

The adult star said the deal is not valid because the US President "never signed it himself".(ANI)
