Slovenians find nothing funny with Kimmel's take on Melania

Sevnica, [Slovenia] Apr. 12 (ANI): Many in Slovenia's 13th-century town of Sevnica have taken offense after the American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel joked about first lady Melania Trump's accent on his show.

Melania Trump grew up in this very town.

"It's very hard to speak English. Melania's been in the US so long and she still has some problems, but Jimmy Kimmel should come to Slovenia and see how hard it is to speak another language," USA Today quoted a meat processing factory worker, Helena Horjak (24), as saying.

Horjak makes the very popular "First Lady" sausages.

Brouhaha broke out on April 8 when Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity asked Kimmel to apologise for his joke on Melania Trump's Slovenian accent.

The brouhaha cooled off on April 10 after Hannity called Kimmel to his news programme where he later vowed to "no name-calling".

A nurse in Sevnica, Maya Kantuzar (24), said it is not fair in regard to the good work she is doing.

"Melania is trying to help everyone. She is doing a really good job for children," USA Today quoted Maya as saying.

Melania Trump, the wife to 45th US President, Donald Trump, left Slovenia more than two decades ago to be a model in the U.S. and hasn't stepped foot in Sevnica for over a decade. (ANI)
