In a statement on X, Carney expressed relief that no one was injured in the early morning attack and assured that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and other federal agencies would provide full support to the Toronto Police Service in their investigation.

A shooting incident was reported at the United States Consulate General in Toronto early Tuesday morning, prompting an investigation by the Toronto Police Service.

In a post on X, the Consulate General wrote, "The Consulate deeply regrets to inform that local police have confirmed the recovery of the body of the missing Indian student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this profoundly difficult time."

In a post on X, the Consulate General wrote, "Consulate General of India in San Francisco is deeply concerned about the disappearance of Saketh Sreenivasaiah, an Indian post-graduate student of UC Berkeley, hailing from the State of Karnataka. The Consulate is in touch with the family and also is in contact with the concerned local authorities to locate the student."

A suspected human trafficker was shot and injured after firing at US Border Patrol agents and a federal helicopter during a chase near Arizona's border. The suspect is hospitalised in serious condition. No agents were hurt. Federal authorities are investigating the incident.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, the victims included the 59-year-old pilot, two women aged 21, and another woman aged 22. The identities of those killed have not yet been made public, pending notification of their families, reported Kens5.

The deaths included 11 men, three women and a minor, according to Leandro Amado, a spokesperson for local firefighters.

The Consulate General of India in Toronto has officially launched the One Stop Centre for Women (OSCW) to assist Indian national women in distress pertaining to cases of domestic violence, abuse, family conflict, abandonment, exploitation and legal challenges, among others.

The MEA expressed condolences over the death of an Indian student in Canada, saying it is in touch with the family and local authorities, while the Indian consulate is providing all possible assistance as the circumstances of the incident are being examined.
