MQM supports Trump for castigating Pakistan

Washington D.C. [U.S.A], Jan 4 (ANI): The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) extolled the US for castigating Pakistan for providing safe havens to terrorists and said that the Islamabad military should stop playing double standards.

Syed Naved Hussain, MQM supporter, told ANI, "We have been saying that the Pakistan military establishment needs to stop playing a double role. They need to do self-reflection. We fully support the Trump administration's new policy. Nobody wants war, nobody wants confrontation."

US President Donald Trump should also initiate stringent action in this connection, said Saleem Sheikh, another supporter.

"Just a tweet (from the US President) is not good enough. It must be implemented on the ground as well. The Pakistan Army needs to be taught a lesson that they remember for the rest of their lives," Sheikh told ANI.

One supporter called the tweet as "not surprising" and said that Pakistan should have completed the task for which they were given money.

"The Pakistani Government should not be surprised. They have taken so much money but did not complete the task. Obviously, the US is watching. Instead of reacting (to President Trump's tweet) they (Pakistan) should be cooperating. I strongly support Trump's decision and I think they (Pakistan) must be given all the answers," Ahmad Khan told ANI.

Syed T Hussain, American Pakistani and a strong supporter of MQM, said, "Of course as an American Pakistani, we support the policy (Trump's policy). On this issue, I fully support him. Trump took a very serious action on it. The policy is very straightforward."

Trump, in a strongly-worded tweet, said America had been 'foolishly' providing military aid to Pakistan for 15 years, but in return, it has only received 'lies and deceit.'

"The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!" Trump posted on the micro-blogging site.

The tweet comes in the wake of the United Nations-designated terrorist, Hafiz Saeed, looking to contest the 2018 general elections in Pakistan and thereby, forming a party - by the name of Milli Muslim League (MML).

Saeed was recently released from house arrest after a Pakistani court cited lack of evidence against him in the 26/11 Mumbai attack case.

Earlier on December 30 too, a report emerged that the United States was considering withholding a USD 255-million aid to Islamabad due to Pakistan's inability to destroy terror safe havens. (ANI)
