Fox Host Laura Ingraham takes week off amid controversy

Washington DC [United States] April 1 (ANI): US media company Fox News host Laura Ingraham has announced that she was taking a week off, amidst backlash over mockery of a teenage survivor of the Florida school shooting David Hogg.

The week-long absence was pre-planned, CNN reported, citing Fox News spokesperson, as saying.

Ingraham made the announcement while signing off her show 'the Ingraham Angle'.

"A blessed Good Friday and Passover to all of you. I'll be off next week for Easter break with my kids," the anchor said.

Ironically, the "pre-planned" vacation coincided with growing controversy over her social media post, wherein she derided David Hogg, for "whin[ing]" about being rejected from several colleges.

Hogg, one of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students, organised the March For Our Lives.

"David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA...totally predictable given acceptance rates.)," Ingraham tweeted, along with a link to a story on the right-wing news site Daily Wire that said Hogg was rejected by four colleges.

The tweet prompted at least several advertisers to drop her show.

According to the reports, 14 companies - including the Rachael Ray-partnered dog food brand Nutrish, the travel site TripAdvisor, Office Depot and the streaming service Hulu - have said they will no longer advertise on Ingraham's show.(ANI)
