Sibal argued that the US is unlikely to risk a naval operation to forcibly "reopen" the Strait of Hormuz as the deep-water channel necessary for large vessels lies within Iranian territorial waters. Iran does not need sophisticated long-range missiles to defend this corridor; short-range missiles, torpedoes, and mines can easily sink high-value naval assets.

The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution condemning Iran's "egregious attacks" against regional neighbours, demanding an immediate halt to hostilities and interference with maritime trade. While 13 members voted in favour, Russia and China abstained, with Tehran dismissing the move as a "manifest injustice" and a "serious setback."

Amid the developing security situation in West Asia, the Indian Embassy in Qatar provided an update, where it mentioned that about 1000 Indian passengers have travelled back to New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. It further said that temporary transit visas of 96 hours' validity had been issued for Indian nationals through the Salwa border to Saudi Arabia and underlined that the Embassy's 24/7 control room remains functional.

Speaking to the media, he said, "Resolution is always through negotiations. This conflict should be resolved as soon as possible..."

Nepal is holding snap general elections following the "Gen Z movement" that ousted the previous government. With over 18 million voters half being youth the polls feature 6,541 candidates. Backed by heavy security, the Election Commission aims for a peaceful process and expects results within 24 hours.

"Election personnel, security staff, as well as the election materials, are already available in every polling station. There are a total of 23,112 voting centres and we have completed all the preparations. Voting will start tomorrow at 7 AM, and continue till 5 PM." Said Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the Joint Secretary and spokesperson of Election Commission, Nepal while talking to ANI.
