Arizona House votes to expel member over sexual misconduct

Arizona [U.S.A.] Feb 2 (ANI): The Arizona House has voted to expel Republican lawmaker Don Shooter over sexual harassment allegations.

He is believed to be the first state lawmaker in the US to be voted out of his seat since the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct began last fall, reported the Fox News.

The Thursday's vote comes after an investigator determined that the lawmaker was engaged in a "pattern of sexual harassment that created a hostile workplace".

Shooter denied sexual harassment but acknowledged that he had made "jarring, insensitive and demeaning" comments, cited the Fox News.

"I say stupid things and do stupid things I guess," he said, adding, "And I stood up, I apologized to those that I hurt that were legitimate. I can't change the past, but I can change the future if I'm given the opportunity."

He has reportedly said that he deserves to be punished but did nothing to justify expulsion. (ANI)
