1,167 Ethiopian refugees flee to Sudan: UNHCR

Finnish President Alexander Stubb warned of a "detachment" of the United States from the global West, noting it increasingly acts without consultation. Citing conflicts in West Asia, Ukraine, and Sudan, he called for a "new covenant" because the current cost of uncoordinated multipolarity is "too high."

A UN body has warned that South Sudan is close to returning to full-scale war amid rising violence, political instability, and sexual abuse. With mass displacement and severe malnutrition affecting millions, the commission urged urgent international action to prevent further atrocities and institutional collapse.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the escalating violence in South Sudan and gave a call to all parties to immediately and decisively halt all military operations, de-escalate tensions through dialogue.

In this regard, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan commends the leadership of US President Donald Trump in preventing Sudan from sliding further into extremism, fragmentation, and a deepening humanitarian catastrophe.

The meeting was chaired by Co-chair of the Australian All-Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet, Susan Templeman MP, and was attended by other members of the group, including Senator Dean Smith, Senator Barbara Pocock, Senator Deborah O'Neill, Dr Sophie Scamps MP, David Smith MP and Kate Chaney MP. Also present at the meeting were Representative Karma Singey and Chinese Liaison Officer Dawa Sangmo from the Tibet Information Office, along with Dr Zoe Bedford from the Australia Tibet Council, according to the CTA report.
