India-Argentina make special declaration to fight terrorism together

New Delhi [India], Feb 18 (ANI): In a special declaration, India and Argentina on Monday expressed their resolve to fight terrorism together.
Argentine President Mauricio Macri and Prime Minister Narendra Modi resolved that the two countries would fight together against the grave challenge to humanity.
They committed themselves to strengthen cooperation against terrorist threats from groups listed in relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.
Macri also condemned in the strongest terms the brutal terrorist attack that took place in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14 in which more than 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives. He expressed solidarity with the families of the sons of India that lost their lives in this brutal terrorist attack.
The two leaders also affirmed their support to a UN Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism that will advance and strengthen the framework for global cooperation and reinforce the message that no cause or grievance justifies terrorism.
Stressing that there could be no justification for acts of terror on any grounds whatsoever particularly emphasising the scourge of cross border terrorism, the declaration read, "Both leaders emphasized that terrorism must be confronted unequivocally and resolutely."
"They reiterated their commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and asserted that strong measures should be taken against terrorists, terror organizations, their networks and all those who encourage, support, finance and provide safe haven to terrorists and terror groups."
"They also underscored the need to ensure that terrorist organisations do not get access to any WMD or technologies or finances and committed to cooperate in the specialised multilateral fora," stated the declaration
The two leaders also gave a call that no country must allow their territory to be used to launch terrorist attacks on other countries.
India and Argentina also exchanged 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and agreements during Macri's ongoing three-day visit to India, which ends on February 19.
Prime Minister Modi and Argentine President Macri met for the fifth time on February 18, after their last meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit held in Argentina in December 2018.
Prime Minister Modi hailed India-Argentina ties, which mark 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, in the joint statement which was issued following bilateral talks at the Hyderabad House here. (ANI)
