Migrant caravan passengers at the Mexican border

Tapachula [Mexico], Oct 21 (ANI): Chaos erupted as Honduran migrants in a caravan surged across a bridge leading to Mexico on Friday.
Tear gas and smoke canisters were hurled at the cheering migrants to push them back as they climbed up the steel gate, reported CNN.
A number of police personnel were injured and an undetermined number of migrants was wounded in the clashes.
Mexico had earlier allowed women and children from the caravan to enter the nation and board buses to proceed towards refugee camps.
According to Mexican authorities, migrants with a valid visa or in possession of other documents that meet requirements will be allowed to stay in the country.
On Friday, United States Secretary of State Michael R Pompeo met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and said the two officials had a "good conversation".
Addressing the caravan situation, Pompeo said, "The Mexican government is making all the decisions on how to address this."
According to a release from the US State Department, Mexico told the US that they are trying to find a solution that "encourages safe, secure, and orderly migration."
Several migrants also collapsed due to the heat as they were stuck on the border between the US and Mexico. (ANI)
