Boat capsizes in Congo River, over 50 dead, many missing

An Indian crew member was killed after the US-owned tanker Safesea Vishnu was attacked by an explosive-laden speedboat near Basra, Iraq. India confirmed that 15 other Indian sailors were successfully evacuated and are receiving diplomatic assistance as regional maritime security challenges continue to escalate.

The United States military has carried out another strike in the Caribbean Sea targeting alleged drug smugglers, killing three people, the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said.

According to the Chief District Officer, the curfew was imposed under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, which prohibits residents from moving around, gathering, rallying, demonstrating, holding meetings, or sieging within the designated areas, which include Bypass Road in the east, Sirsia River in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.

Following the apprehension of 12 fishermen along with a mechanised boat by the Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday night, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to initiate immediate diplomatic intervention to secure the release of the detained fishermen.
