Pak military generals main culprits of genocide in Balochistan: Marri

Geneva [Switzerland], Sept. 23 (ANI): Attending the silent vigil to pay homage to the victims of the Pakistani military in Balochistan, Baloch representative at the United Nations and the European Union Mehran Marri said Friday that the Pakistan Army generals are the main culprits behind these killings and they should be tried and imparted death for their crimes. "The main culprits to be held accountable for the massacres in Balochistan are the military generals who should be taken before the international criminal courts and ideally be hanged for the crimes they committed," Marri told ANI. He said, "We are here to pay our homage and respects to the victims of kill and dump policy by the Pakistani Government which has started in recent years. There are tens of thousands of victims of this kill and dump policy." He added that the protests are intended to raise awareness about the human rights violations in Balochistan. "We hope to raise awareness internationally and especially in the human rights council, of the atrocities Pakistan is committing in Balochistan. I am very happy with the high number of people present here that it has been very effective," he added. The protest was also attended by European Parliament Vice President Ryszard Czarnecki, who expressing solidarity with the people of Balochistan against Pakistan's atrocities, said the European Union may impose economic and political sanctions on Islamabad if it fails to stop the human rights violation in the region. "I told the European Union during our human rights debate that if our partner countries do not accept human rights and standards, in this situation we should react and seek sanctions like some moves in economic fields," said Czarnecki. "We have bilateral economic and political relations with Pakistan and if it will not change its state policy towards Balochistan then we would change our attitude towards Islamabad and towards the government of Pakistan," he added. Stating that Islamabad has dual standards, the European Parliament Vice President said on one hand it shows a clean face to the world while on the other it indulges in human rights violations. He also acknowledged the problem in Pakistan is that the government is controlled by the military. (ANI)
