India can play better role than U.S. in highlighting Baloch crisis: Khan of Kalat
Geneva (Switzerland), Sept 21 (ANI): Heaping praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking a 'courageous stand' on the issue of Balochistan, Khan of Kalat Amir Ahmed Suleman Daud (Baloch leader in exile) on Wednesday said, that India can play a better role than the United States in helping Balochistan to highlight the atrocities being committed by Pakistan in the international forum. When asked if the U.S. will play a pro-active role to the issue of Balochistan, Suleman Daud said, "as far as American Congress is concerned, the Congress legislators will take a firm role in this issue, but as far as the United States government is concerned, diplomatically they will not take a proactive stand. But I think India has a better sphere of influence and can play a better role in this regard." He also expressed gratitude to the Afghanistan and Bangladesh governments for rooting for the cause of Baloch people. "I would like to express my attitude to Afghanistan and Bangladesh government who stood behind Prime Minister Modi's stand and with each passing time, people of Baloch shall forever remember this," Suleman Daud told ANI. Highlighting the Pakistan Army's excessive use of force against the Baloch people Suleman Daud said, "We are getting oppressed since 1948 and presently Pakistan army has intensified operations and civilians are being targeted. Many have been killed, more than 2500 people are estimated to be missing and not one day is passed without targeting Baloch people." Asserting that houses are being torched, and children and old people are not even being spared, the current Pakistan government through its Army is carrying out genocide on the Baloch people. On Wednesday, two American senators introduced the legislation in the Congress to designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism. The bill was moved by Congressman Ted Poe from Texas, who is the Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism, and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California, who is a strong votary of the Baloch cause. The bill is a powerful expression of the mood among lawmakers increasingly agitated about Pakistan's ceaseless backing of terror groups that are taking lives of common people. (ANI)
