Five people connected to Nice attacker to appear in French court
London, July 21 (ANI): Five people held for questioning over the Bastille Day truck attack in Nice will appear before a court in Paris today. Aged between 22 and 40, four men and one woman were detained over their alleged links to Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, who drove a truck into a crowd on the promenade in Nice, killing 84 people, reports The Guardian. The group includes a 40-year-old man who Bouhlel had known for a long time, a 38-year-old Albanian man and his girlfriend who are suspected of providing the Tunisian attackerwith an automatic pistol. Another two men are 22-year-old man who received a text from Bouhlel shortly before the rampage and another man who had been in contact with Bouhlel over weapons. The Bastille Day truck attack in Nice was the country's third major attack in 18 months. The Senate today is set to pass a bill extending the state of emergency, which gives police extra powers to carry out searches and placepeople under house arrest, for six months. Security measures have been extended for the fourth time now, since the Paris attack in November last year which killed 130 peopleand injured several. (ANI)
