Sisi wins second term as Egypt President

Cairo [Egypt], Mar 29 (ANI): Incumbent Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has been re-elected to the post for the second time, according to state media on Thursday.

Sisi won the elections with a brute majority, amassing a massive 92 percent vote share.

According to state-owned newspapers Al-Ahram and Akhbar el-Youm, and the official MENA news agency, the three-day voting saw 60 million registered voters that ended on Wednesday.

Sisi's only challenger and al-Ghad Party chief Moussa Mostafa Moussa was able to get only three percent of vote share.

Meanwhile, the official results are scheduled to be announced on April 2.

With no real opposition to Sisi apart from Moussa, various political analysts had already determined the outcome in favour of the former, as per media reports.

Sisi took over as Egypt's president for the first time in 2012, replacing the democratically elected now-jailed Mohamed Morsi.

Later, Sisi was democratically elected in 2014 as less than half of the eligible voters had cast their votes since the toppling of its first democratic government in 2013. (ANI)
