Clashes break out in Al-Aqsa Mosque

Jerusalem [Israel], Mar 12 (ANI): Clashes broke out between worshipers and Isreali police on Tuesday in East Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Jerusalem [Israel], Mar 12 (ANI): Clashes broke out between worshipers and Isreali police on Tuesday in East Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque. . 
"Dozens of Israeli soldiers stormed the Al-Aqsa compound and assaulted a number of religious figures,” Anadolu agency quoted Firas al-Dibs, a spokesman for the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf as saying. 
Several videos have surfaced on social media, showing officers manhandling and preventing people from entering the mosque. They also closed the door of the mosque.



Defending their step, the Police said that they closed the door after a firebomb was thrown at them.   
“A short while ago, on the Temple Mount, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the location’s police post,” police said in a statement.
“Jerusalem Police Commissioner Doron Yadid visited the Temple Mount and held a situational assessment there. He ordered it evacuated and closed in order to conduct searches for other weapons,” the statement further added.  
Tension has been escalating in and around the third largest mosque in the world after Israeli police briefly sealed the mosque a few days back. (ANI)
