8 PKK terrorists neutralised in Turkish airstrikes

Ankara [Turkey], Jul 2 (ANI): At least eight Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists have been killed in airstrikes in Turkey's southeastern and eastern provinces, and northern Iraq, the Turkish military said on Sunday.
The word "neutralised" is used to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured, as per Turkish authorities.
The Turkish general staff announced on Twitter that fighter jets conducted airstrikes in northern Iraq's Zap region, and in rural areas of the southeastern Sirnak and eastern Van provinces in Turkey on Saturday and Sunday, Anadolu news agency reported.
Since July 2015, the Turkish military has been carrying out regular airstrikes on PKK targets.
On Saturday, the Turkish general staff said that four PKK terrorists were killed in northern Iraq's Avasin Basyan region.
Turkish military officials have hinted that they plan to launch a massive operation against the PKK in Mount Qandil region in northern Iraq, which is the headquarters of the terror group.
Last month, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi called for the disarmament of the PKK terrorist group, including other armed groups.
The PKK has been listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US and the European Union (EU).
Its terror campaign against Turkey is on for three decades now, which has resulted in the killing of more than 40,000 people. (ANI)
