Former CIA agent Evan McMullin to launch presidential run against Trump
London, Aug.8 (ANI): Former CIA agent, Evan McMullin is launching a third-party bid for President as a conservative alternative to Donald Trump. McMullin has updated his Twitter profile and launched a campaign site, as part of his morning announcement that he is running for president. "In a year where Americans have lost faith in the candidates of both major parties, it's time for a generation of new leadership to step up. It's never too late to do the right thing, and America deserves much better than either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton can offer us," the Guardian quoted McMullin as saying. "I humbly offer myself as a leader who can give millions of disaffected Americans a conservative choice for president," McMullin added. His Twitter bio now reads, "Former CIA operative, businessman, House Chief Policy Director. Standing up to run for president because it's never too late to do the right thing." Reports suggest that McMullin now has over 7,700 followers and large portion of which are probably the country's political reporters. People can also sign up to his campaign on his website, evanmcmullin.com. His move comes in after reports surfaced that a faction of Republicans remains reticent to embrace Trump as the party's presidential nominee. (ANI)
