Sofia [Bulgaria], Feb 17 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is on a two-day visit to Bulgaria, deliberated on a number of bilateral issues including economy, agriculture, tourism and other key areas with her Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva here on Saturday.
The two ministers along with their respective contingents participated in the delegation-level talks where they discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest.
"Preparing ground for expanding relationship. EAM @SushmaSwaraj held constructive meeting with Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of #Bulgaria @EZaharievaMFA. Discussed a range of bilateral themes in economy, agriculture, health & pharma, IT, S &T, tourism & culture," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar wrote on his Twitter handle.
Earlier, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister welcomed Swaraj, who arrived in Sofia on Saturday as part of her three-nation visit to Bulgaria, Morocco and Spain. Notably, this is the first-ever visit of an External Affairs Minister to Bulgaria.
"Straight to work! Foreign Minister of #Bulgaria @EZaharievaMFA welcomed EAM @SushmaSwaraj ahead of the delegation level talks in #Sofia. Two countries are natural partners based on the foundation of deep historical and cultural linkages dating back to 8th century," Kumar tweeted.
Zaharieva also condemned the dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district in which around 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives.
"I give my deep condolences to the Indian government and people after yesterday’s terrorist act against Indian personnel near #Srinagar. No cause justifies such acts," she wrote on her Twitter page.
During her two-day visit in Bulgaria, Swaraj will pay floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the South Park in Sofia. She will also interact with the Indian community.
After wrapping her bilateral engagements in the European nation, Swaraj will proceed to Morocco for two days on February 17 and February 18. (ANI)
