Sitharaman meets Russian counterpart, pitches for stronger defence cooperation

Moscow [Russia], Apr 4 (ANI): Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met her Russian counterpart Army General Sergei Shoigu here on Wednesday.
During the bilateral meeting between the two leaders, the talks were aimed to reinforce the defence cooperation between the two countries with a specific focus on military-technical cooperation.
Sitharaman spoke at the plenary session of the seventh Moscow Conference on International Security, where she stressed on stronger defence cooperation between the two countries in fighting terrorism.

The defence minister also called on her Chinese counterpart General Wei Fenghe at the sidelines of the Moscow Conference.

Sitharaman on Tuesday met Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Denis Manturov in Moscow and discussed strategies to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries.
The discussion in the bilateral meeting focused on enhancing defence production cooperation and creating synergy between the defence industries of Russia and India.
Sitharaman is currently on a three-day visit to Russia to attend the seventh Moscow Conference on International Security. This is her first visit to Russia after taking over as the defence minister. (ANI)
