Belgrade [Serbia], Jan 6 (ANI): The Serbian Police on Saturday arrested the armed man, who had earlier barricaded himself in an apartment building here and threatened to blow it up.

According to Xinhua, the police described the situation as a 'hostage crisis'. Heavy police units, sniper teams and negotiators were present in Rakovica, an urban municipality in Belgrade.

The man, with the initials B.J., after negotiating with the police and the public outside, finally surrendered to the police. It was also reported that he had not taken any hostages.

The country's interior ministry confirmed that the man was armed and had once served a jail term as well. (ANI)
