Salisbury attack: Moscow hits back at UK, stands by suspects

As India and Russia continue to deepen their military engagements during the visit of COAS General Dhiraj, the two countries held talks to expand the ambit of cooperation in areas such as training engagements and strengthening capability development between the two armies. 

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, following the delegation's arrival, their engagements began with the laying of wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden, led by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces Colonel General Alexander Matovnikov.

Zelenskyy called the timing of the Russian assault "symbolic," emphasising that economic pressure remains essential to forcing Moscow to negotiate as the war enters its fifth year. Direct strikes caused significant disruption to energy infrastructure in the Sumy and Odesa regions. Missiles and drones damaged residential buildings and triggered widespread fires across communities in Kyiv and Odesa. Ukrainian officials reported emergency impacts and damage across a total of eight regions.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack near the compound of Shafiq-ur-Rehman Mengal in Khuzdar, alleging that five people, including a police officer, were killed in the operation, according to a report by The Balochistan Post.

India on Thursday reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring energy security for its 1.4 billion people after the US House of Representatives passed the Russia sanctions bill, which also targets Moscow's major energy importers, including India, while noting that during high-level talks with US interlocutors, New Delhi had highlighted the potential trade and economic risks arising from the legislation.
