Oxford Circus: London police denies evidence of firing

London [UK], November 24 (ANI): The Metropolitan Police has denied any evidence of shots being fired at London's Oxford Street.

"We have not located any trace of suspects, evidence of shots fired or casualties. Officers still on scene. If you are in a building stay there, if you are on the street in #OxfordStreet leave the area. Officers continue to search the area. More updates as soon as we have them," the Metroplotan Police tweeted.

London Police earlier responded to a report of number of shots being fired at Oxford Street in Central London and the authorities treated it as terrorist attack.

According to the Metropolitan police, neither reports of casualties have been reported, nor any suspects arrested, the Guardian reported.

"Police have responded as if the incident is terrorist related. Armed and unarmed officers are on the scene and dealing along with colleagues from British Transport Police," the Scotland Yard said.

The British Transport Police said, "Officers are responding to reports of an incident at Oxford Circus station. Officers are on scene, more information when we get it. The station is currently closed, please avoid the area at this time. Officers are on scene."

The Metropolitan police also took to Twitter account to advice people on Oxford Street to go inside the buildings if possible to avoid panic in the area, while the Bond Street tube station has been shut down to avoid any mishap.

Transport for London said it was investigating a "customer incident" and that trains were not stopping at the station, the Guardian reported.
