BRP urges Swiss Govt. to review its decision about Brahumdagh Bugti's asylum

London [UK], December 3 (ANI): The Baloch Republican Party (BRP) held a protest outside the Switzerland embassy in London here on Saturday to urge the Swiss Government to review its decision about turning down the political asylum application of top Baloch leader and chief of BRP, Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti.

Mansoor Baloch, the president of the party's UK Chapter, has said that Switzerland should review its decision and it should not overlook its code of neutrality, human rights laws and the western traditions.

"It has saddened the Baloch nation how Switzerland denied asylum to the Baloch leader, Nawab Bugti, relying upon the false and baseless allegations and propaganda of Pakistani authorities. Switzerland is well known for its neutrality when it comes to issues such as this, and we respect that. But, by denying political asylum to such a well known and great leader and only listening to the Pakistani side of the story and avoiding hearing us puts Swiss's claims of neutrality into question," he added.

Emphasising that Balochistan is facing a systematic genocide at the hands of Pakistani state, Mansoor said denying asylum to Nawab Bugti, who happens to be the most influential voice against the Baloch genocide, adds greatly to the state atrocities on Baloch people.

He mentioned that Pakistan Army has also recently escalated its military operations and offensive across Balochistan including Dera Bugti, Makuran, Awaran and other regions.

Activists of the Baloch National Movement and son of Baloch leader Mir Javed Mengal had also joined the protest.

Last month, the Switzerland Government had rejected Bugti's political asylum after a long wait of seven years.

Baloch and other human rights activists on social media have constantly been urging the Swiss government to review its decision. (ANI)
