Abuja [Nigeria], Sept. 27 (ANI): Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, who arrived in Lagos, Nigeria for a five-day official visit to Nigeria and Mali inaugurated the High Commission of India Chancery complex in Abuja and interacted with the members of the Indian community. The Vice President, who is accompanied by his wife Salma Ansari and other senior officials, reached Nigerian capital Abuja. He was received at the Abuja International Airport by his Nigerian counterpart Yemi Osinbajo. Vice President Ansari also planted a sapling with his wife Salma Ansari. An agreement on Bureau of Standards will be signed in Nigeria. Vice President Ansari yesterday said that the repeated attacks of the Nigerian nationals in India were just "stray incidents" and were neither specific to citizens of any particular country nor racially motivated. Addressing the media onboard Air India Special Flight on way to a five-day visit to Nigeria and Mali, Vice President Ansari said that it was however important to note that the law enforcement agencies had quickly responded wherever and whenever such incidents had taken place. On the second leg of his trip, Vice President Ansari will go to Mali on September 29, the first ever high-level visit to that country from India. He will return home on October 1. In Mali, he will meet President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, Prime Minister Modibo Keita and also address the National Assembly. The visit to Mali is aimed at boosting the relationship between the two countries and explore new areas of cooperation to expand and diversify bilateral relationship. (ANI)
