U.S.: Hurricane Matthew claims 10 lives, marks 'record-breaking' flooding
Washington D.C. [United States], Oct. 9 (ANI): At least ten people have been killed by Hurricane Matthew in different regions in the United States. Authorities claim that three people have died in North Carolina, four in Florida and three people were killed in Georgia, including a man when a tree fell on his house. The storm has left behind record-breaking flooding on Saturday, as the center of the storm moved out into the Atlantic Ocean, dragging bands of heavy rain with it across eastern North Carolina, reports the CNN. According to the National Hurricane Center, "This rainfall is leading to record-breaking flooding over portions of eastern North Carolina, and it may result in life-threatening flooding and flash flooding elsewhere across the region," Swaths of damage and millions of power outages along parts of the US Southeast from Florida to the Carolinas has been caused due the storm following a destructive spree through the Caribbean that took the lives of many people. The hurricane center has said that although the hurricane has weakened, serious threats remain before Matthew becomes a post-tropical cyclone on Saturday night or Sunday. (ANI)
