Trump attacks Democrats for 'made up Russia story'
New Delhi [India], Feb. 16 (ANI): U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday accused the Democrats of fabricating news reports on Russia to explain their election loss and once again blasted the 'fake media'. In a couple of tweets, the President said, "FAKE NEWS media, which makes up stories and "sources," is far more effective than the discredited Democrats - but they are fading fast!" "The Democrats had to come up with a story as to why they lost the election, and so badly (306), so they made up a story - RUSSIA. Fake news!" Top U.S. intelligence officials have said Russia tried to hurt Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a bid boost Trump by hacking the emails of Democratic political organizations. Trump himself acknowledged last month that the hacking of Democratic groups was likely done by the Kremlin, saying "As far as hacking, I think it was Russia." But he noted at the time that other countries hack as well, and blamed the Democratic groups for not sufficiently protecting their data. Trump won 30 states in the November, giving him 306 electoral votes. The White House is presently embroiled in controversy surrounding Russian links of former national security advisor Michael Flynn's that led to the his resignation. Trump reportedly asked Flynn to resign this week when it was revealed that he had discussed sanctions with a Russian diplomat before the President took office. Trump has meanwhile blamed the 'leaks' for Flynn's resignation. In his earlier tweets today, he issued a fresh warning to those responsible for leaks from Washington to the media saying 'they will be caught'. "Leaking, and even illegal classified leaking, has been a big problem in Washington for years. Failing @nytimes (and others) must apologize!," Trump tweeted on Thursday. "The spotlight has finally been put on the low-life leakers! They will be caught!," he added. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump had expressed concern over the leaks saying the classified information is illegally given out by intelligence" like candy which he described as "Very un-American". "The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by "intelligence" like candy. Very un- American!" Trump said in a tweet. (ANI)
