Teenager given life imprisonment over planning to bomb Elton John concert in London
London [U.K.], July 6 (ANI): A 19-year Briton, Haroon Syed, has been awarded life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years and six months. According to a report appearing in the Guardian, Syed was found guilty of searching online for parts of London where he could unleash an attack. He tried to obtain a suicide vest or machine gun as he identified Elton John's concert in Hyde Park, central London, last year as a possible target. The teenager was caught by the British Security Service members who pretended to be extremists and claimed they could help source the weapons. Syed's radicalisation was triggered from his older brother Nadir Syed, 23, being jailed last year after being found guilty of plotting to carry out a beheading attack around Remembrance Sunday in 2014. The teenager fell under the influence of Al-Muhajiroun, the banned group linked to imprisoned hate preacher Anjem Choudary. (ANI)
