Swamy's PIL stands for 'Publicity Interest Litigation': Menon's counsel
New Delhi [India], August 1 (ANI): The counsel of Shiv Menon on Tuesday told court that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy has not filed Public Interest Litigation (PIL) but a Publicity Interest Litigation in Sunanda Pushkar death case. His remark comes a day after Swamy filed a fresh application in the Delhi High Court, seeking a copy of the chargesheet in the Sunanda death case within 45 days. Menon, son of Sunanda Pushkar, also moved an application in the court seeking a direction to conclude the investigations in a time bond manner. Swamy submitted before the court that, "I don't need any publicity; I am politician and Member of Parliament so I don't need publicity." Talking to media after appearing in the case, Swamy said, "He (Menon) wants to settle in Canada after getting all the property of his mother. He is a citizen of Canada. He never ever appeared prior. He is coming here for his personal reasons." The court earlier on July 20 directed Delhi Police to file an additional status report with details in the death case within three days. The court pulled up Sunanda Pushkar's son after he questioned Swamy's locus standi in filing a plea in his mother's death case. "Don't you want a proper enquiry into the death? How are you affected by Swamy asking for a CBI probe? Don't you want a proper enquiry? Why are you trying to restrain it," the court had asked Menon. Swamy on July 6 this year had filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court seeking a court-monitored enquiry into the mysterious death of Sunanda. Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, was found dead at a suite in a five star hotel in South Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014. (ANI)
