Special court rejects bail plea of Nat Geo's famed 'Afghan Girl'
Islamabad [Pakistan], Nov. 2 (ANI): The bail plea of Nat Geo's famed 'Afghan Girl' Sharbat Gula was rejected by a special court on Wednesday. Gula was arrested from her Peshawar residence by the FIA for alleged forgery of a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) on October 26 and since then has been in the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) since October 26. According to Sharbat Gula's lawyer, she was on her way to Afghanistan when she was arrested. Gula's lawyer during a bail hearing on Tuesday told the court that his client is currently suffering from Hepatitis C and is the sole bread winner of her family. Earlier in the week, a local court had sent her to prison on judicial remand. The court observed in its order that she replied in negative and refused to confess her guilt when asked whether she wanted to record her confession The court then sent the suspect on judicial remand for 14 days to Peshawar central prison.
