Six injured as Nepal police baton-charge protestors outside CIAA office
Kathmandu, July 24 (ANI): At least six protestors sustained injuries after the police baton-charged a crowd during demonstration outside the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) here on Sunday. Medical science students and practising doctors were among those who had gathered outside the Tangal-based central office of the anti-corruption constitutional body to protest what they called the CIAA's intervention into an entrance examination of the Kathmandu University, reports the Himalayan Times. The police also detained some protesters. The protest comes at a time when the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital's senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has been staging a hunger strike for last 15 days demanding impeachment against CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki and commissioner Raj Narayan Pathak as they allegedly intervened into the KU exams by breaching the jurisdiction, thereby promoting corruption in Nepal's medical education sector.
