Sharif 'homecoming'rally heads to Lahore from Gujranwala
Gujranwala [Pakistan], Aug.12 (ANI): Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif's cavalcade left for Lahore from Gujranwala on Saturday. This is the fourth and last day of his 'homecoming' rally that set off from Islamabad on August 9, reports the Dawn. He will pass Kamoke on his way from Gujranwala. The caravan will be joined by a rally from Sialkot, led by Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif. The rally started on August 9 when Sharif left Punjab House, Islamabad to go to Lahore via Grand Trunk (GT) Road, amid strict security. The former premier's motorcade included police and elite forces vehicles as well. On Friday, Sharif vowed to counter the "conspiracy" hatched to hinder economic progress and infrastructural development in Pakistan. He claimed that he had been removed from the office of prime minister on frivolous charges. He claimed that the conspirators had desecrated the sanctity of votes cast by 200 million Pakistanis before thanking the crowd of supporters for their unwavering support. (ANI with inputs)

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
