PTI leader accuses Sharif's daughter of 'misuse of authority'
Islamabad [Pakistan], May 6 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Andleeb Abbas has questioned the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) over what she claims is "misuse of authority and the abuse of taxpayer's money" by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz. She has sought answers from the PMO to five questions on Maryam's "misuse of the Prime Minister's Office". In a letter addressed to the principal secretary of the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Abbas has asked for certified information within 21 days under Article 19-A of the Constitution and the Freedom of Information Ordinance, 2002, the Dawn reported. She has questioned as to 'Why is Maryam commenting on national security issues?' Abbas asked in what capacity Maryam, who is not an elected representative, is giving out official stances on national security issues. In her another question, Andleeb asked why Maryam is running the government's Strategic Media Communication Cell. Public funds were also allegedly being used to run the Strategic Media Communication Cell," she added. "The government has allocated a record Rs8.3 billion for the Information Ministry for 2016-17," she said. The PTI leader questioned that why the 90 employees of the cell are being paid from taxpayer's money. Maryam was also meeting foreign dignitaries and arranging meetings with foreign ambassadors and dignitaries at the PM House when not holding any official position. (ANI)

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
