PPP backing Parliament to save democracy: Former Pak PM Gilani
Dera Ghazi Khan [Pakistan], Nov. 8 (ANI): Former Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that in the wake of Panama leaks anything can happen in the country adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party is not backing the Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz government but the parliament. The dawn quoted Gilani as saying, "Parliament is being backed by the PPP to save democracy and the parliament is important and the right institution for the legislation on the Panama leaks." The former prime minster said that his party was against corruption and it was supporting the state institutions. He was speaking on the 171th Urs of Hazrat Shah Suleman Taunsvi at Taunsa Sharif yesterday. Asserting that the war was not the solution to the issues with India, Gilani said negotiations should be held to resolve all the issues, including Kashmir to Sir Creek. Speaking about the military operation in different parts of the country, he said, "When we started operation in Swat, Malakand and South Waziristan, the PML-N and other parties had opposed our policy, claiming that they would launch negotiations with extremists but now they are following the PPP policies by conducting operation against extremists". Geelani said that it is in the hands of the Prime minister to extend the army chief's term. (ANI)

A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
