PM Oli in pensive mood after Maoists quit government

Kathmandu, July 12 (ANI): Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has said that he is pondering over the decision of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) to quit the government. Prime Minister Oli had convened an informal meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday soon after receiving the letter of the CPN-Maoist Center informing him of the party's decision to quit the government. After the meeting, the Prime Minister told the media that he is thinking over the issue. When asked if he would resign or seek other alternative after his government turned into a minority government, Prime Minister Oli restated that he is still thinking about that issue as well. In the informal meeting of the Council of Ministers that lasted for 40 minutes, the letter submitted by the Maoist Center was read out and general discussions were held about the recent developments. However, no concrete decisions were taken. "The Maoists have breached the 14-point agreement reached while forming the government. We will take the next step after discussing with the other parties," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Bhim Rawal. Earlier today, Maoist leaders Hitraj Pandey and Janardan Sharma reached the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and handed him a letter stating that the party had withdrew its support to the government. Pandey and Sharma also informed President Bidhya Devi Bhandari about the party's decision to withdraw its support to the government.
