Pakistan, Turkey ink MoU for sale of warships, aircraft
Istanbul [Turkey], May 11 (ANI): Pakistan and Turkey have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the sale of four Turkish-made corvette warships and 52 Pakistan-made training planes for Turkey's armed forces. According to the Dawn, the Karachi Shipyard will buy the four Turkish corvettes made by Ankara under its Milgem warship programme. The final deal, however, is expected to be signed on June 30. So far, financial details have been revealed about the MoU. Pakistan, on the other hand, will supply 52 Super Mushshak training planes manufactured at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, to Turkey. These aircraft will replace the T-41 and SF-260 planes currently in use by the Turkish Air Force. Two warships built under the Milgem project -- TCG Heybeliada and TCG Buyukada -- were delivered to the Turkish Navy in 2011 and 2013. Construction is going on for TCG Burgazada and TCG Kinaliada, which are expected to start duty in 2018 and 2020, respectively. (ANI with inputs)
