Nepal's Constitution amendment will provide justice to all: PM Dahal
Kathmandu [Nepal], Oct. 3 (ANI): Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday said that the country's next Constitution amendment would provide justice to all marginalised communities including Aadibasi Janajatis. Dahal made the remarks while receiving a delegation representing the Magar community at his residence in Baluwatar of Kathmandu. He said that attempts were underway to bring all parties to consensus to address the concerns of Madhesis, Tharus and other ethnic groups, reports the Himalayan Times. Asserting that purported federal structure as mentioned in the Constitution had failed to properly divide the regions of Tharus, Madhesi and Magars, Dahal assured that the next amendment to the Constitution would correct the same. He also said that his government was committed to ensuring unity among the people by incorporating the sentiments of mountains, hills and plains. The Magar delegation during the meeting demanded an autonomous Magarat state in the federal structure. Magars are among the oldest ethnic people in Nepal and their ancestral homeland in the country extends from the western and the southern edges of the Dhaulagiri range of the Himalayas.(ANI)
