Kathmandu [Nepal], June 3 (ANI): Nepal's Parliament is set to elect a new premier on Sunday after Pushpa Kamal Dahal submitted his resignation to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on May 24. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is expected to be next premier of Nepal. The Parliament Secretariat has published the schedule for the election of Prime Minister on Friday. As per the schedule, any legitimate member of the Parliament, willing to file the nomination papers for the post of prime minister, can register his or her candidacy from 11 AM to 4 PM on Saturday at the Parliament Secretariat. The Parliament Secretariat will publish the final list of candidates after 4:30 PM on Saturday and the voting will be conducted at 11 AM on Sunday. Prachanda had resigned to pave the way for Nepali Congress Chief Sher Bahadur Deuba to become the next premier, as per an understanding the two leaders had reached in August 2016. Earlier, President Bhandari allocated one week time for political parties to garner consensus over formation of unity government which expired on Tuesday. On Sunday, House Speaker Gharti will present the letter and then go for the voting over the proposal. The opposition CPN- UML (Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist) has reinstated to halt parliamentary proceeding till there is no continuation of vote counting in Bharatpur. The opposition has not projected its candidate for the post of prime ministership but Bamdev Gautam is highly expected to be put forward. But the Parliamentary mathematics has given a complete majority to NC Candidate Deuba with 306 votes, though he yet is to formally announce his candidacy. Nepal Congress has 207 votes whereas Maoist Center which has promised to support NC has 82 votes and the Democratic Forum which has 17 votes goes in favor of NC then Deuba is sure to have 306 votes which marks majority over the provision of two hundred and 97 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party which has the votes of 37 is yet to decide. The ethnic minorities have clearly stated that they will not be chairing the government but can think over it later if they get some strong bases and promises from the to be formed new government.
