Kabul, July 8 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said in Sydney that his government has pledged to give USD 100 million per year to Afghanistan till the year 2020. Prime Minister Turnbull said that he would be making an announcement to this effect at the NATO Heads of State Summit in Warsaw, Poland. He said that Australia will deliver USD 500 million to Afghanistan between 2010 and 2017. Currently, Australia has around 270 personnel in Afghanistan, providing assistance and support to Afghan security forces. Meanwhile, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and other leaders have reached Warsaw to attend the NATO Heads of State Summit. Both leaders will highlight their programs on good governance and the fight against corruption, to draw the attention of the international community towards Afghanistan. For Afghanistan, the summit is an important, as Kabul hopes to secure funding for the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) as well as troop commitments for NATO's support mission in the country, reports Tolo News. The leaders of the 28 NATO allies and many partner nations will take decisions to strengthen the alliance's security by bolstering its own deterrence and defense. It also intends to project stability beyond the borders of member states.(ANI)
