MoFA rejects claim of 'mutilation' of Indian solider by Pak troops

Islamabad (Pakistan), Nov. 22 (ANI): Pakistan on Tuesday rejected India's claim that three of its soldiers were killed, while the body of one of them was found mutilated, by the Pakistan troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhal Sector as "false" and "baseless" reports by the Indian media. Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Nafees Zakaria in a series of posts on his Twitter handle said: "Pakistan strongly rejects the false & baseless Indian media reports reg (regarding) the alleged mutilation of an Indian solider on the LoC. These reports are a fabrication and a blatant attempt to malign Pakistan." He further said, "As a professional force, Pakistan army isn't involved in any such unethical &non-professional activity & neither supports any such action. However, Pakistan is fully prepared and ready to respond to any misadventure across the LoC, WB or International Border." He accused India of recurrently violating the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding and targeting civilians. The Northern Command of the Indian Army today tweeted, "Three soldiers killed in action on LoC in Machhal. Body of one soldier mutilated, retribution will be heavy for this cowardly act." Earlier today, the Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr. Mohammad Faisal summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh and "strongly condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations on November 21 by the Indian forces on the LoC (Jandrot, Nikial, Karela and Baroh sectors), resulting in 'shahadat' of four civilians and injuries to 10 others, said a MoFA statement. He stated that the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is deplorable. (ANI)
