Lankan court rejects army's list of missing LTTE surrendees
Mullaitivu (Sri Lanka), July 15 (ANI): A Sri Lankan court has rejected a list of missing LTTE surrendees produced before it by the army. The court rejected the list as the Army provided a list of LTTE surrendees, who have been rehabilitated but the petitions have been filed on behalf of the LTTE surrendees, who went missing after they surrendered to the security forces. During a hearing to address the Habeas Corpus petitions filed on behalf of the missing LTTE surrendees, the court also ordered the army to provide a list of the surrendees mentioned in the petitions at the next date. Mullaitivu District Magistrate S.M.S. Samsudeen rejected the list produced to the court by a Major General of the Sri Lanka Army, reports the Colombo Page. Thousands of men, who were associated with the LTTE, surrendered to the security forces at the end of the war as they were given assurance that their lives, along with their families, would be safe.
