ISPR confirms exchange of fire with Indian troops along LoC, death of two army soldiers
Rawalpindi [Pakistan], Sept.29 (ANI): The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) division of the Pakistan armed forces on Thursday confirmed that Pakistan and Indian troops exchanged fire across the Line of Control (LoC), adding that two army soldiers were killed during the cross-fire. In a statement issued to the media, the ISPR said that the exchange of fire began at 2.30 a.m. and continued till 8 a.m. "Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing on the LoC in Bhimber, Hotspring Kel and Lipa sectors," the Dawn quoted the ISPR statement, as saying. The latest incident of cross-border firing comes as tensions simmer between Pakistan and India over the Kashmir issue, days after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Uri army base attack in which 18 soldiers were eliminated. The allegation was rejected by Pakistan. Despite a 2003 border ceasefire agreement signed by both countries, cross-border firing along the working boundary is intermittent with both parties frequently accusing the other of breaching it.
