ISI supporting Taliban in Northern provinces: Afghanistan VP Dostum

Kabul [Afghanistan], Sept. 30 (ANI): Afghanistan Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum has said that his country's armed forces are chasing Taliban militants in the northern provinces, who are being supported by Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Kabul [Afghanistan], Sept. 30 (ANI): Afghanistan Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum has said that his country's armed forces are chasing Taliban militants in the northern provinces, who are being supported by Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Dostum was speaking during his trip to northern Faryab province, and said that the government would welcome the Taliban joining the peace process but warned that militants pursuing violence with the support of the ISI would be eliminated, reports the Khaama Press. He said that ISI's most destructive plans in Afghanistan have been thwarted. Afghan officials have long been criticizing Islamabad for the allowing the Afghan Taliban and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network to use its soil for planning and coordinating attacks in the country. A number of US lawmakers also criticized Pakistan for not doing enough to eliminate the terrorists safe havens and refused to fund the purchaseF-16 fighter jets for the Pakistani air force. (ANI)
