IS claims Quetta bomb attack that injured 13
Quetta (Pakistan), Aug. 13 (ANI): The Islamic State (IS) militant group has claimed responsibility behind a roadside bomb blast apparently targeting a judge that injured 13 people in Quetta, the SITE Intelligence Group said. Thursday's explosion on a bridge located in the city injured four police personnel and nine passers-by, in an attack. The Dawn quoted Site's report that the IS group claimed the attack on its Telegram channel, al-Bayan Radio and Twitter. The attack came days after a suicide bombing at a hospital on Monday, killed over 70 people, mostly lawyers who had gathered to mourn the death of the president of the Balochistan Bar Association who was gunned earlier in the day. The bombing was claimed by the Jamaatul Ahrar faction of the Pakistani Taliban and IS as well. However, reports suggest that it is unclear whose claim was more credible. The region in the past few months is witnessing regular militant attacks, with IS militants struggling to gain a foothold in Pakistan, with competition from other extremist group like the Taliban.
