Indian Army Chief to be conferred with Nepal Army honorary title today
By Binod Prasad Adhikari Kathmandu [Nepal], Mar. 29 (ANI): Indian Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat will be conferred with honorary General's rank of the Nepal Army on Wednesday. A special program will be organized at Shital Niwas, President Bidhya Devi Bahdari's official residence, for the event. General Rawat arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday at the invitation of Nepal's Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri. General Rawat is on a four day official visit to Nepal. There is a tradition between India and Nepal of honoring the Chief of Army Staff of both neighboring countries with the title of honorary General. Upon his arrival in Nepal, General Rawat called on India's Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri. He then met with Nepal Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi and General Rajendra Chhetri. General Rawat is scheduled to call to Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Defense Minister Balkrishna Khand. Apart from these meetings, General Rawat will be visiting the Indian Army Pension Camp in Pokhara to address ex-Gurkhas. General Rawat will also be visiting Pashupatinath Temple. (ANI)
