French charity urges Lankan govt. to take action over its aid workers killing
Colombo, Aug. 5 (ANI): Action Contre la Faim (ACF) or the Action against Hunger, a Paris-based aid organisation, has urged Sri Lanka to take action over the killing of its 17 aids workers during the conflict in Sri Lanka a decade ago. Unidentified gunmen on August 4, 2006 executed 17 local staff members of Action Contre la Faim in their complex in Muttur of Trincomalee district, during the height of the battle to wrest control of Eastern Province from the Tamil Tiger terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), reports the Colombo Page. No one was ever prosecuted for the killing of the aid workers which included 16 ethnic Tamils, including four women, and one Muslim. ACF has said it was time for the Lankan Government to act on its promises as the group marks the 10th anniversary of the massacre. (ANI)
