Dhaka [Bangladesh), Sept.26 (ANI):The Dhaka High Court today directed the authorities to freeze the bank accounts of the owner of Tampaco Foils Limited in Tongi that collapsed after a fire broke out inside the building on September 10. The court, however, said the owner can withdraw money from the bank account only for the payment of the salaries and other benefits of the workers. According to the Daily Times, the high court also asked the authorities to explain as to why the government should not be directed to give sufficient compensation to the victims of Tampaco factory fire. The court directed the authorities to submit reports before it in a month on how much money was given to the workers as salaries and benefits. Justices M Enayetur Rahim and Ashish Ranjan Das passed the order following a writ petition filed by rights organisations Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers' Association and Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust. The death toll from the fire incident was 39. (ANI with inputs)
