China criticises G7 interference in its sea disputes
Beijing [China], May 28 (ANI): China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang on Sunday said that Beijing strongly denounces a joint communique released after the 2017 G7 summit as it interfered in East China Sea and South China Sea issues on the pretext of international law. The G7 summit ended with a joint communique on Saturday, saying the G7 members are committed to "maintaining a rules-based order in the maritime domain based on the principles of international law" and also expressed concerns about the situation in the East China Sea and South China Sea. Asserting that China's position on the East China Sea and South China Sea issues is clear and consistent, Lu said that Beijing has been committed to properly handling the issue and safeguarding peace and stability in the region through talks and consultations directly with related parties. As per Xinhua, he asked G7 countries to not take any position on relevant disputes and urged them to fully respect the efforts made by countries in the region to handle disputes. Lu also asked them to stop making irresponsible remarks. (ANI)
